Glen Ellen Community Church includes as a regular part of its budget, a “tithe” to various outstanding ministries around the world.  We count it a privilege to give back to others what the Lord has blessed us with here in Glen Ellen.  (The third Sunday of each month, we will receive an update on our missions.) Some of the ministries we support are as follows:

Marketplace Ministries Worldwide

In 2007, four Christian men came together through a series of independent conversations. They rallied around a passion to use their experiences from business to have an impact for the mission of Jesus Christ in regions of severe poverty and spiritual need.

As they prayed and sought council from other Christian leaders, the vision for Marketplace Ministries Worldwide began to emerge. Their emphasis is to start, assist, and empower businesses in the underdeveloped world, to minister to tangible needs and foster greater opportunity to minister to spiritual needs. Today, Marketplace Ministries Worldwide is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation engaged in establishing businesses as a platform to join God’s redemptive mission to the world.

The Redwood Gospel Mission

The Redwood Gospel Mission, in the grace and power of Jesus Christ, mobilizes our community to minister to the needy so that lives can be transformed.  While their emphasis is primarily in and around Santa Rosa, they also minister throughout Sonoma County, being a blessing in Jesus’ Name wherever possible.

Sonoma Young Life

Young Life doesn’t start with a program. It starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship.  Young Life leaders log many hours with kids — where they are, as they are. We listen to their stories and learn what’s important to them because we genuinely care about their joys, triumphs, heartaches and setbacks. We believe in the power of presence. Kids’ lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God’s love with them.  This is the first step of a lifelong journey; the choices they make today, based upon God’s love for them, will impact future decisions … careers chosen, marriages formed and families raised.

Amy Williams – Europe Missions

We were very blessed to have Amy visit us on March 16 and bring us exciting yet also troubling news about the work of God’s people in Italy. Italy is a very dark country spiritually and we remain committed to Amy in her efforts to reach Italians for Jesus in Montefiascone.

Joseph Sammy and his wife, Janu have an outreach ministry to the Asian Indian people in and around their home in Newark, Ca.  They are involved in friendship evangelism, Bible Studies, discipleship training, and outreach meetings.  They also conduct a Sunday morning worship service in the Hindi language.

Pastor Ryan Schindler

Pastor Ryan serves in a little church in Sonoma which ministers to local community members surrounding the little church.  We are blessed to encourage Pastor Shindler and try and assist him a bit to carry on the work there in Sonoma.

Evangelical Free Church USA

Glen Ellen Community Church supports our denominational leadership at both the Western District level (Sacramento, CA) and at the National level (Minneapolis, Mnn).  From our partnership with EFCA, we receive leadership training, support in a variety of pastoral areas, and the integrity of doctrinal affiliation with one of the most conservative denominations in the United States.

Community Projects

Each year Glen Ellen Community Church gives gifts to the communities of Glen Ellen and Sonoma purposed to project a image of community interest and promotion of the church of Jesus Christ.  In October, GECC supplies a “bounce house” to “Kid’s Alley” of the Glen Ellen Village Faire.  Our volunteers watch as children from all over enjoy themselves bouncing with each other at this festive event.  In December, GECC puts on a “Live Nativity,” complete with camels, sheep, a donkey, goats etc and in costume, that First Christmas Story is acted out before an enthusiastic crowd.
